Worship
Worship is the central activity of Concord Church. Through our worship we glorify God with music, the arts, preaching, and prayer. Worship services are on Sundays at 11:00 AM, but we hope you will join us for fellowship at 10:30 before the service. Throughout the liturgical year we worship God in ways that highlight the themes of the season. During Advent we revisit the ancient prophesies of Isaiah, remembering God's promises and preparing our hearts for the coming of Christ in the liturgical season of Christmas, but also the in breaking of God into human history. During the season of Lent we affirm our mortality with the ashes of Ash Wednesday, wondering in our faith as Christ wondered in the wilderness. Our liturgy climaxes during Holy Week with the services of Maundy Thursday, a celebration of the Last Supper, and on Good Friday, in a service of darkness where we contemplate the full meaning of the incarnation of God through Christ into God-forsakenness and our own involvement in that action of love. The sanctuary is stripped of color and life and sealed as the tomb. Three days later, at the Easter sunrise service, we find the doors already opened, the body of Christ gone. We are witnesses to the resurrection of Christ and therefore able to celebrate our eternal life through Christ. This is why we worship and proclaim to every people, tongue, and nation that God, in whom we all live and move, is love.
